*All learners who had enrolled for our Classroom SNA Course which was scheduled to begin on 2nd November 2020 and have paid their Course fee in full will have the option to complete the Online Course on request.
The aim of this course is to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge in the practices and principles in the role of a Special Needs Assistant. Satisfactory completion of this module can be used as a standalone certificate or to assist learners aiming for higher qualifications, especially the Major Award of Community Health Services QQI Level 5 (5M4468)
-To explore the role, qualities and skills of the SNA
-Examine the relevant legislation in relation to disability
-To relate appropriately to children with additional needs
-To enable the learner to apply care routines in feeding, toileting and general hygiene
-To maintain relationships with children, parents, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
The Course will be delivered by our collaborative Training partner, NCU Training
The next Course is provisionally scheduled to begin on Thursday 18th March 2021
The Course will be delivered Online so you will need access to a Computer and an internet connection. You will also need to have a Webcam or a device which has a Camera (most Laptops have Webcam).
Beginning your Course and the Learning process
The Course login details and a new video explaining how to log in will be emailed to you a few days prior to the start date (First Tutorial).
The Course tutorials will be delivered through Google Meet. The live Tutorials will take place in the evening time. These are usually 2-hours each in duration and will be recorded for people who were unable to attend the live meet. You can then catch up in your own time with the Videos Tutorials. This is especially useful for people who work during the daytime and need greater flexibility with their Course.
There will be some self-directed learning and work to be completed and Tutor support will be available for when you need it.
Course assessment is divided into an Assignment and a Skills demonstration, both of which will be discussed in greater detail by your Tutor at the beginning of the Course.

Leaving certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experience. Participants must speak and work in English at a standard appropriate to the course content.
*NCU Certification fee is not included in the total cost of the course, Medical cardholders, People in receipt of DSP payments are generally exempt.
